Dosti - Come, let’s be friends
[Friday, November 25, 2005]

They laughed together They loved together They lied together They lived together

They were Raj [Akshay Kumar] and Karan [Bobby Deol], two friends who did everything in the name of friendship. Two friends who were inseparable inspite of being unequal. But how unequal could anyone get than this?

Whether it was their social status, family background or even their own self, they were different from each other by all means.

While Karan is flamboyant, Raj is more subdued. While Karan believes in living life to the fullest, Raj believes in having his feet firmly on ground. While Karan lacked love in his life, Raj had all the love in the world with him to spread top the world around. While Karan has all the luxuries that never made him miss anything that was materialistic, Raj had to work hard for his living.

And still….their friendship was the talk of the town.

The more unequal they were, the more closer they got. The more people tried to put a divide amongst them, the more trust they showed in each other.

Because for each, the other was his lifeline.

But do all good things have to come to an end eventually? Will both of them get effected by the society in which they lived that won’t allow their friendship to be sustained.

They never thought so! But then life has its own games to play.

Because soon entered their lives their respective lady loves Kaajal [Lara Dutta] and Anjali [Kareena Kapoor]. Life was still going smooth and happier than ever with Kaajal getting closer to Karan with every passing moment. She became his center of affection and soon came a point when he couldn’t see anything beyond her.

But would he fail to realize the presence of the one who first gave him a shoulder to cry upon?

Raj’s life too was never the same again when he came in contact with Anjali. Anjali cared for him, respected him and loved him to such an extent that she wanted him to be the BEST amongst all. Best to such an extent that he comes out of the shadow of Karan and live life on his own terms. While this thought had never occurred to Raj ever, Anjali tries to put this point across to him in a big way.

But would be succumb? Would he have a change of mind and heart and think otherwise? Or for him would the world be always the same as it ever was?

Would there be misunderstandings that would sour the relationships between the two friends? Would any trivial issues have so much power in them that they would threaten a bond that had defeated any force so far?

Would Raj and Karan again laugh, love, lie and live together ever after?

Come watch it out in Suneel Darshan’s ‘Dosti’, which as per the maker is a heartfelt love story of a friendship, like never before. It is a film that shows that if friendship were to have another name, it would be immortality.

Zinda - Is being alive a curse?
[Wednesday, November 23, 2005]

What does a man desire most in his life? A small and happy family comprising of a beautiful wife, a secure future, a roof on the head, and a comfortable place to live in.

Balajeet Roy [Sanjay Dutt] too believed in the same and thought that he had it all. Content with his lovely wife Nisha [Celina Jaitley], he was beginning to feel comfortable in the city of his dreams - Bangkok!

Bangkok - a city that promised to give him everything that he ever wanted! Bangkok - a city that took away everything from him that he ever had!

So what if Bangkok had a different culture, way of living and off course different food! In the company of Nisha, things always seemed promising. Life took a turn for better when Nisha realized that she was going to give him a baby soon.

But would he be able to see the arrival of the newborn? Because his life was going to be snatched away from him soon!

A bizarre incident happens in their lives when Bala find himself locked at a place about which he is not aware of. Neither is this place a prison nor has he been kidnapped. He has been just kept in the confines of a small, dark and a dirty room where he has only link to civilization - an old television set!

What is his crime? Which is this place? Who are his captives? When would he come out?

No one knows this, not even Bala. Because inspite of all his cries to the outside world, no one is willing to respond. He is there - ALL ALONE. And his one and only option in life - WAIT!

A wait that lasts for an entire 14 years. When a moment of separation from your loved ones can make you insane then one can’t even imagine the plight of Bala who is not even aware about his misdeed and is still locked away in isolation.

So does Bala give up? NO! Does his life change? YES! Because now he is no more a human being. He is an animal. An animal who has continued to wait for all these years only to know about two things that matter most in his life. What is his crime and who are his captives?

He builds up his fighting skills while being held captive as he is still hopeful that he would be released one day and then he could take revenge! So does he get a chance to take revenge? YES!

After a long wait for 14 years, just as quickly as he found himself bundled in a room, the same way he finds himself facing the world. A world that has changed drastically since the time he last set his foot out. But would this world allow him to live his life normally? Would he be ever able to reach his captives? Would he be ever able to know the root cause of all the mishaps in his life? Is this is a good enough time for him to explore all the secrets that changed his life forever?

Because time is something that he lacks in a big way. He has just four days and in these four days he realizes that his freedom too was a part of the plan. The plan of the same people who got him in and have let him out now!

Is this an even worse phase of his life? In this complex plot, what role does Rohit Chopra [John Abraham] play? Who is Jenny [Lara Dutta] and does Joy Fernandes [Mahesh Manjrekar] have any influence in Bala’s life?

Is Bala back to being ‘Zinda’ [alive] or was the semi-dead state in captivity far better?

Master of crime sagas, Sanjay Gupta, comes up with his latest offering ‘Zinda’, which yet again explores the world of crime by integrating thrills, revenge, drama, intrigue and suspense. Unlike his last two movies Kaante and Musafir, Zinda has been low key during its pre-production and shooting but is now catching up on heat when it is gearing up for release.

‘Zinda’ is a film that appears to be darkest movie ever by Sanjay Gupta. A hard hitting flick shot in Bangkok, it tells you a story never told before on Indian screen. And to make Sanjay Gupta’s imagination come alive, who else but Sanjay Dutt is roped in to play the lead role. One of the most challenging roles ever by the deadly Dutt, it is sure to haunt you long after the screening is over.

Bluffmaster - Here comes the master of con

Bluffmaster - Here comes the master of con
[Tuesday, November 22, 2005]

2005 has been the year when the ‘CON’ has ruled. Be it the mega-hit ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ or the turkey ‘Bachke Rehna Re Baba’, be it thriller/drama/action rolled into one ‘Chocolate’ or the popcorn flick ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’, each of the movies has tried to out-con each other. And now the year ends too with the movie ‘Bluffmaster’ where the title itself gives it away about the theme. And isn’t the audience still wanting for more? Starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra for the first time together, ‘Bluffmaster’ directed by Rohan Sippy also has Nana Patekar and Ritesih Deshmukh giving ‘Bluffmaster’ an added ‘tadka’!

In the world of crime, loot and illegal activities, there is one man who considers his job to be the finest art of all. He doesn’t choose to follow a right path or a wrong path. Instead he chooses the path where he believes he can deliver BEST. He is Roy [Abhishek Bachchan] a conman, and a professional for that matter. He believes in a simple saying that explains his preferences in life:

‘Baap Bada Na Bhaiyya, Sabse Bada Rupaiyya’

No doubt he has no regrets about his profession. But there is one regret in his life for sure. First and foremost he cannot reveal his true identity to the person whom he loves most in his life - Simmi [Priyanka Chopra]. As like all the love stories, this love story is built on trust and togetherness. But when this very trust breaks once Roy’s true identity is revealed, Simmi breaks away from him

Roy’s world is shattered, but life moves on!

Soon enters his life another conman Aditya Srivastava [Riteish Deshmukh], who is a kid and still learning the trick of the ropes. In his mind he believes that he has a potential to be the greatest conman ever but the fact remains that he has a long way to go. He needs Roy’s help to reach there but Roy is hesitant about the proposal. First and foremost the very nature of the two men is poles apart.

While Roy is inherently smart, Aditya is by choice dumb! Roy is the one who does things with a cool head while Aditya is always in a hurry! Roy treats his profession as a work of art while for Aditya is something that can be done in a jiffy!

No doubt Roy doesn’t want Aditya to be his ‘chela’. But Dittu (as Aditya is called) is unrelenting and wants to learn the rules of the game from none other than the best of all - BLUFFMASTER!

Finally Roy bows down to the wishes of Dittu and takes him into his wings. Another factor that inspires Roy to take this step is to help him avoid memories of his lady love. And from here begins a new journey for Roy.

A journey that brings Roy closer to Aditya! A journey that has something new to offer every passing day! A journey that gets more and more exciting as the days progress!

A journey that changes the direction of Aditya’s life forever with a brutal truth that stares him on his face!

Roy, who always though that he was THE BEST suddenly realizes that this time around he is THE VICTIM.

What happened that impacted Roy’s life to such an extent that there was no looking back? Did he ever get back Simmi? Who is Dittu? And where does Nana Patekar fit into the entire narrative?

Come fishing this December 16th and you will get all the answers!

Deewane Hue Pagal - It’s all about Love, Lies and Cheating

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, Shahid Kapoor, Rimmi Sen, Om Puri, Paresh Rawal
Direction: Vikram Bhatt
Production: Firoz Nadiadwala
Music: Anu Malik

Deewane Hue Pagal - It’s all about Love, Lies and Cheating
[Wednesday, November 16, 2005]

Filmmaker Firoz Nadiadwala and extravagant larger than life packaged-entertainment go hand in hand. Remember Hera Pheri, Awara Paagal Deewana and Aan Men At Work. Now he pairs up with his Awara Paagal Deewana director Vikram Bhatt once more for his mad action comic caper ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ that has practically the same team as APD [Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Om Puri and Asrani].

The only notable change is that instead of Aftab Shivdasani, the film stars Shahid Kapoor. Written by Neeraj Vora, the film has gone through multiple changes since its release as earlier it was supposed to star Anil Kapoor and had Ahmed Khan [Lakeer] at the helm of direction. The movie stars Rimi Sen as the center of affection of all the lead guys and guess what’s the flavor of this popcorn flick?

IT’S LOVE, LIES AND CHEATING

One look at the role brief of the four prime protagonists in the movie and you would know why!

Akshay Kumar plays a ‘liar’ who never ‘cheats’ in ‘love’ Suneil Shetty plays a ‘cheater’ who never ‘lies’ in ‘love’ Paresh Rawal plays a ‘liar’ who always ‘cheats’ in ‘love’ Shahid Kapoor plays a ‘lover’ boy who only ‘believes’ in true ‘love’

And the center of all of this attention is the “queen of their hearts” - Rimmi Sen!

A complete ‘masala’ entertainer, DHP begins with a love story between Karan [Shahid Kapoor] and Natasha [Rimmi Sen]. While Karan is a cute mooney-eyed young boy in his early 20s who is relishing the feeling of love, Natasha is a glamorous young girl who takes the breath away of anyone and everyone who comes her way. But behind this gorgeous appearance lies a SECRET!

She holds a SECRET INFORMATION!

For some reasons she migrates to Dubai that leaves Karan heartbroken. He doesn’t know her whereabouts and doesn’t have any way to track her down. Until help comes in the form of Rocky [Akshay Kumar], a handsome investigator, who is hired to search Natasha. A charming man, he has a shady past with numerous women in his life but this time he mends his ways. He truly falls in love with Natasha.

This makes it two men in Natasha’s life - Karan and Rocky. Meanwhile there is a fourth angle in this love story - Paresh Rawal, who takes it for granted that Natasha would say YES to him.

Three men - one woman! But that’s not all!

Because there is also Sanju [Sunil Shetty], a loving friend of Natasha, who can walk only with the help of crutches. But even his physical imparity doesn’t stop him from being protective of Natasha….and for this he is ready to take on anyone, even if it is Rocky!

Meanwhile thrills in the lives of each of them continue to make an appearance due to the secret information possessed by Natasha. To add to the fun, there is also a dog and a parrot who play an important ‘role’ in the proceedings.

Game of LOVE, LIES, CHEATING and FUN reaches its end in a super-mad climax shot in true Nadiadwala style as it boasts of great locations, some never seen before action and truly an extra larger than life proceedings. Just watch out for the exquisite locations of US and Dubai along with a sizzling appearance by Moroccan dancer Lena.

All the ‘paagal deewane’ are coming to entertainer you coming 25th November. Any guesses to whom would Natasha say YES?

A person who was ‘Ajnabee’ [stranger] to you all these years only to become the most integral part of your life. A person who managed to define your life for your remaining years. A person whom you were responsible for his/her safety?

And now the same person has been snatched away from you? What would you do to get her back? Revolt? Especially when the entire world seems to be on the other side challenging you..!

This is what former black commando in the army, Suryaveer Singh [Amitabh Bachchan], does. After years of mental and physical trauma that comes as a part of the package of being a commando, he has now taken a break and has hit the bottle to make him forget all his sufferings.

Bangkok - a city where kidnapping for ransom is a crime in full swing. And the target is invariably someone who belongs to a rich family.

And this time around the target is Anamika [Baby Rucha Vaidya], a young girl who is the daughter of Ravi [Vikram Chatwal] and Nikasha [Perizaad Zorabian]. Heading a happy family of three, Ravi decides to hire the services of a bodyguard for his daughter in the wake of city’s crimes.

Enters Shekhar [Arjun Rampal] into the picture who also lives in Bangkok. He has only one name in his mind who could be an ideal bodyguard - SURYAVEER SINGH. Reason being that once upon a time, both Suryaveer and Shekhar had served the army as officers. And knowing Suryaveer’s skills, he has no doubt that he is the BEST in the business.

Suryaveer’s becomes Anamika’s bodyguard but strictly maintains a professional relationship. But Anamika’s cute and lovely personality melts his heart and soon a beautiful bond develops between the two. The little girl becomes his lifeline and he vows to go any distance to protect her.

Until, one fateful day, Anamika is kidnapped……!!

All attempts of Suryaveer turn out to be futile as kidnappers win the battle and snatch away Anamika from her while critically injuring him.

Kidnappers win the battle but the WAR is still ON. And it is Suryaveer’s resolve to win it any cost….even if the cost for this is his own life!

A lone man stands against the entire city. A city which is new to him. A city where there is absolutely no one for help.

A city where no one can be TRUSTED!!!

This is where his commando instincts help him pave a way to reach the kidnappers that would lead him to the one who is dearest and closest to him. He has to apply all his mental and physical skills to reach the nucleus of this conspiracy. And when he reaches there, he is SHOCKED….

The story takes a violent turn from here and there is absolutely nothing that can stop him now. Because now he is a MAN ON FIRE…!
