Perfectionist Aamir Khan will be taking off his shirt for his most hyped film Ghajini. He will be doing some eye-catching stunts in bare body. He is undergoing massive workouts to tone up his body under the instruction of his trainer, Satyajit Chaurasia, to bring a perfect picture of the scene. The film involves enormous stunts and actions which Aamir has not done before. It is a Tamil blockbuster and he accepted to remake it because of his unique storyline. It would be Aamir’s first experience to perform any stunt with six pack abs and without shirt. The flow of the shooting is distracted as in the mid-way of the shooting; he got hurt while lifting a 100 kg weighs man. He had taken a short break from shooting. He is advised to take rest for 15 days and will resume shooting very soon. Ghajini is a Tamil blockbuster and hope it will also do a grand business in Bollywood. It stars Nishabd girl Jiah Khan and Tamil actress Asin in the lead role.

Lights, camera, accident

“The accident that happened in Coolie changed my life. When I saw a repeat of that incident on the sets of Khakee, I relived my horrid experiences. I also wondered if the film industry will ever learn from its past experiences!”
With Aamir Khan getting injured on the sets of Ghajini last week, one thing is clear – the lessons have not been learnt. Before that, Hrithik Roshan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi have hurt themselves while shooting for stunts. What ails Bollywood’s stunt record – is it the actors’ insistence to do their own stunts or is it the lack of a safe set-up?
No safety concerns
Director Vivek Agnihotri, whose forte has been action films, says, “We still approach action sequences like any other sequence, ie without much safety. Accidents happen when enough safety measures are not taken. Also, not enough time is given to prepare these shots. Third, there are no contractual obligations. Once you have, like Hollywood, enough penalties and insurance-based health and safety regulations, things will change.”

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini is in for great trouble as the actor reportedly hurt himself on Wednesday while shooting for the film. Aamir got hurt while performing a stunt for the remake of the Tamil thriller ‘Ghajini’. He has been admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad, where the film is being shot. Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao has reportedly left for Hyderabad.Shooting for the film has been postponed, which means that the release of the film would be delayed. After the super success of Aamir Khan’s directorial debut TZP, his latest Ghajini was being awaited eagerly by his fans. But the news of his accident has brought great disappointment. Aamir has been working like a machine for more than a whopping 12 hours everyday to wrap up the last lap of Ghajini`s shoot in Hyderabad. And for his role in Ghajini, `Mr Perfectionist` Aamir has been rigorously training for 4 hours a day for the last one and half years, and also got himself the new designer buzz look. But this latest unfortunate turn of events has surely brought great disappointment for Aamir and his fans.
Mr Perfectionist has just got another bellyache. Or is it one he’s giving others, again?
In the recent past, his production of Taare Zameen Par, saw the original director and writer of the film, Amole Gupte, being sidelined and the producer-star of the film, massively rewrote the film and took over the reins, too.
He gave due credit to Gupte, but the scrap caused a lot of heartburn to Gupte, naturally. It was small consolation that the film was appreciated very much by the audieneces as well as critics.
Now, Aamir Khan’s production of Delhi Belly seems to have caused heartburn and a bellyache too. The first to the original director of Delhi Belly, and the second to Aamir Khan, to be sure.
Or is it that Aamir is giving a lot of bellyaches to just about everyone around?
These pre-production aches and post-production heartburns are not usual for Mr Khan, and he would probably have quite a stomach upset if he didn’t play Mr Perfectionist all the time.
While the directorial responsibility in TZP changed hands when the film was nearly complete, Delhi Belly has seen a change at the helm even before it has gone on the floors.
The original choice to direct Aamir Khan’s quirky and crisp sex comedy was Swedish director Robert Nylund. Nylund is nyet nyet already!
Delhi Belly has a new director in the chair already and likely to have a change of language, too.
Bachchan expresses his unhappiness on the Aamir Khan film not being under contention for the awards. The movie industry has been unanimous in its approval for Taare Zameen Par. It has even won countless awards but the film’s producer-director Aamir Khan has consistently shunned all of these ceremonies because they go against his principles. Now, however, because of Aamir’s refusal to apply for the IIFA, TZP will not even be a contender. Brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan tells us more…
Taare Zameen Par hasn’t been nominated for the IIFA’s what’s your reaction?
IIFA rules and procedures, approved by the governing body, states that it is mandatory for a producer seeking nomination for an Award category, to make a formal application. If the formal application is not made, irrespective of the status and merit of the film, it does not become eligible for a nomination. Aamir as a producer did not put in that formal application making it very difficult for IIFA to consider TZP in any category. As a brand ambassador did you think of inviting him personally?
IIFA and I also as its Brand Ambassador spoke to Aamir personally on this issue, because we did not want his film to go unrecognised and possibly unrewarded. But he told us that it was against his principles with regard to award ceremonies. He wished to be excused and I think we should honour that. Much as though we would have wanted to accommodate his film, it would have gone against the principles of the IIFA regulations. It would have set a wrong precedent unfortunately, for producers, who were following the regulations of IIFA. I have expressed to Aamir how immensely we shall miss his presence.
