There has always been a tough competition between Amitabh, Aamir and Shahrukh Khan. During the press conference of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA), when Amitabh Bachchan was asked whom he thinks holds the No. 1 position, Aamir or Shahrukh, he said that he does not believe in number game and admires both of them.“Aamir and Shahrukh, both are very good actors and human beings. They are talented and are doing well,” Bachchan said. Recently, Aamir Khan very tactfully declared that his position in Bollywood is No. 1 and Shahrukh comes after him. The number game in Bollywood is not new, competition to stand first is going on from decades.If Shahrukh is the called the Badshah then Amitabh Bachchan is called the Shahenshah of Bollywood. There are actors and then there is Aamir Khan! While the former lot believes in following the trends by wearing and sporting what’s in vogue, the latter ‘decides’ what’s in vogue and what’s not! A fantastic actor and a hardcore trendsetter – that’s Aamir Khan for you. Shah Rukh may be known as the King Khan but Aamir is royalty as far as his attitude is concerned! This superstar lives by his rules and only addresses the media as and when he wishes to!
However, we managed to accomplish an almost impossible task the other day! We actually managed to spend few minutes with this actor par excellence (away from his screaming fans and photographers!) when he turned up for the premiere of Race at a suburban Mumbai multiplex.
Following the ‘formal’ dress code for the evening (unlike Dhoni who was at his casual best), Aamir looked absolutely delectable in his suit and tie look! The actor was even mistaken for ‘Salman’ post his arrival, all thanks to his newly acquired muscles and toned body! As soon as he got seated with wife Kiran to watch the film, we RACE-d towards him and finally managed to speak to him!
Thursday night, March 20, Abbas-Mustan, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, Sameera Reddy, Mahendra Singh Dhoni,Neil Mukesh, David Dhawan and Tusshar Kapoor and Gul Panag adorned the Premiere of ‘Race’. But the person who managed to steal the show among all these glittering celebrities was Aamir Khan who took everyone with his closely cropped look.
Aamir was supposed to go bald for the new look of his film ‘Ghajini’, but he finally opted for shaved-off thinner white lines criss-crossing his head like scars.
“This is the look originally, yes. This is what the look was and this is what the director wanted so this is what I have done and there are these ’scars’ on my head and at the back also in two three places - since the character has got injured in the head,” explained Aamir to the reporters.
Wife Kiran, who was with Aamir too seems to be happy with his new look. “I think he looks hot,” she said simply.
A Bollywood cold war ended when Aamir Khan dropped in for a chat with Amitabh Bachchan.
The three-month-long standoff between the two was triggered when Aamir was reported to have made some uncharitable remarks about the Big B’s prized film Black on a deaf, blind and mute girl.
Confirming the unexpected development, Amitabh told IANS: “Yes, Aamir came to meet me. He was shooting next door at Mehboob Studios and dropped in to say `hi`. As simple as that.”
When asked how their meeting went, the Big B laughed and said: “Oh, grow up. It was just a normal thing that we all do when colleagues are shooting together. He has been over to our house, Jalsa, several times. He came home recently to pay his condolences when my mother passed away and again for the chautha. He also came to invite us to see his film Taare Zameen Par.”
There is a popular saying in Bollywood that ‘Whatever Aamir Perfectionist’ Khan does, he does not follow any style, because whatever he does, simply becomes a style in itself’.
The latest one being that he has gone bald for his forthcoming film Ghajini, with the southern sensation Asin and the Bollywood hottie Jia Khan paired opposite him.
Aamir going bald had become the talk of the town for quite some time now. And the ‘day’ decided was his Birthday, which eventually got postponed. And the person instrumental in this was the renowned celebrity hair stylist Avan Contractor, and the location was Aamir’s residence in Bandra.It looks quite ironical that it was the same Aamir who had gone full fledged with his locks in Mangal Pandey and now it is the same Aamir who has gone bald, though the common factor remains that both of these ‘hairstyles’ were not an overnight decision. Aamir had spent lots of time working out on these looks. So, please do not be surprised if you suddenly find the young men going bald. Because you know that the reason is not the summer, or the dandruff and definitely not the lice, but it called the refreshing ‘Aamir slice’!
