Do-able Daddies

akshay kumar

Enough with the ‘yummy mummies’ of tinseltown, what about their better halves, who are just as yummy?

Or yummier? No more eye-candy for the men, it’s now time for the female folk to revel in some unadulterated guy candy. Think of the rugged, bare-vested, shades-donning Saif Ali Khan in the promos of his latest movie. D-r-o-o-o-l. And the same Khan can turn up for the Filmfare Awards looking suave and sexy in a black suit, playing the perfect gentleman to his leading lady. Touche.

Speaking of Khans, and hot ones at that, how can we forget the six-packed King Khan? Even at 40 plus, Shah Rukh Khan still manages to give the young guns a run for their money. His innocently cute dimpled smile perfectly complements his ooh-la-la six packs. K-k-k-k-korrect?

Then there’s the other Khan, the newest do-able dad-on-the-block, Zayed Khan. The yummy youngster looks as cool with his long locks and unshaven avatar as he does with his short, gelled hair and clean-shaven look. Khantastic! But if it’s pure muscle power that turns you on, then Hrithik Roshan is quite a catch! With those light eyes and chiselled features, Hrithik can transform from a Mughal era king to a dhoom-a-licious muscular Greek God in minutes; his hip swinging moves only adding to the adrenaline rush.

And when we’re talking about hot daddies, how can we leave Akshay Kumar behind? The bodylicious actor scores (and how!) whether he jumps from a building, fights the toughest of action heroes or does his delectable jhatkas and matkas. And also making his delectable presence felt in the league of do-able daddies is model-turned-actor Arjun Rampal. Good looks never go out of fashion for the hunk, eh?

So, what do the gals from Bollywood think of these delectable daddies? “Bollywood is full of yummy daddies now, I’d definitely put Saif, Akshay and SRK in that category. What makes them more adorable is the fact that they are not just hot, but extremely cool too. And seeing these fun-loving men with their kids makes them even more sexier,” feels Sophie Choudry. Amrita Arora, on the other hand, finds it difficult to pick her yummy daddy, simply because, as she says, there are so many of them! “It’s a tough call between Saif, Arbaaz, SRK and Zayed. It’s the entire package that’s appealing; besides being so dashingly good looking, they are such attentive husbands and fathers too,” says Amrita.

These hotties sure are do-able, kissable, lickable, smoochable, do-any-thing-you-want-with-them able, and the women sure aren’t complaining!

I am proud of Akshay: Dimple

/photo.cms?msid=2878910

The odd crow’s feet notwithstanding, Dimple Kapadia, who’s nearing 50, is still resplendent.

But interviews don’t seem to be one of her favourite things. She’ll be seen in three films this year. “There’s Phir Kabhi with Mithun Chakraborty which is complete. I’m also doing Milo Toh Sahi by Kabir Sadanand, the casting for which is still on. Then there’s Zoya Akhtar’s directorial venture, in which her brother Farhan Akhtar’s playing the male lead. It’s a funny take on the Bombay film industry,” she says. And she’ll be sharing screen space with her Bobby co-star Rishi Kapoor in the film.

Last seen in the critically acclaimed Being Cyrus , Dimple is taking it easy now. And she prefers it this way. “I’m doing one or two films a year. But I’m quite happy with my pace of work. At this age, one doesn’t really get good offers. Roles are mostly written for the new generation. But I consider myself lucky to have got roles in films like Being Cyrus and Dil Chahta Hai . Doing only a few films leaves me time to do a lot of other things,” she says.

Mention her son-in-law Akshay Kumar’s soaring career graph, and her face lights up. “My chest swells with pride whenever his name is mentioned. I feel very happy for him and am extremely proud of him. But it’s not just because he’s my son-in-law. I have always believed in him and God has been kind to him. He’s very hard-working and disciplined,” she says.

But she too must be working hard to remain as stunning as her Bobby days? “People say I’m stunning, and it becomes true. But I don’t do anything.”

Akshay turns producer

Akshay turns producerFollowing in the footsteps of Ajay Devgan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan etc. Akshay Kumar has gone ahead and launched his own banner, Hari Om Productions. As may be recalled, just a while back Akshay, when asked about getting into production himself, had said that he cannot bear the hassles. But the top actor now says that “I think it’s finally time that I took the leap, so I’ve decided to throw myself in the deep end. Even as an actor, I’ve always been open to working with new directors. In fact, some of my biggest hits have been with new directors. So, I think it’s only fair that we give deserving talent a fair chance. It’s my way of giving back something to the industry. After all, I can never forget my days of struggle.”Well, since he has now decided to take the plunge, after 18-years in the industry, we wish him the best.

Akshay Kumar axed from Tashan promos

Akshay Kumar axed from Tashan promosAkshay Kumar is miffed with Yash Raj Films for not giving him as much exposure as Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the Tashan promos. If sources are to be believed the promos will singularly focus on Saif and Kareena. It is only but natural that Yash Raj Films is cashing in big time on the current flavour of the season, the Saif-Kareena pairing, for their big ticket hit. However, it looks like there is another reason for Akshay being out pushed of the picture. We hear that Akshay had recently turned down a Yash Raj film, thus rubbing the Chopras the wrong way. Yash Chopra, who features at the top slot of Bollywood’s power list this year, is not used to actors turning down offers. In fact, stars even juggle their dates with other banners to accommodate a Yash Raj project. A source close to the production house says, “Yes, it’s true that Akshay Kumar turned down a Yash Raj film. Obviously, the Chopras did not take it too well.” Adds the source, “After watching Akshay’s performance in Tashan, the Chopras wanted him to star in another project of theirs. Aditya Chopra personally narrated the script to Akshay. However, Akshay was not entirely convinced with the story of the untitled project and turned it down.” The source further says, “Aditya believes that because of Yash Raj’s Dil To Pagal Hai, Akshay got a new image. He expected Akshay to say yes at least for old times’ sake. Sadly, Akshay’s decision caught him completely off-guard.” Looks like the Chopras are carrying out their grudge to the end. “The creative team at Yash Raj, which currently is working on the promos of Tashan, have focused on Saif and Kareena, leaving Akshay almost out of the picture. It is their way of getting back at Akshay,” says the source. We sent a text message to Akshay but he remained unavailable for comment. Well, this seems like a ‘Deewar’ we weren’t expecting either, Akki!

Akshay Kumar says Ranvir is Bollywood’s best actor

Akshay Kumar says Ranvir is Bollywood’s best actorYou break into a laugh the moment he appears on the screen, but he’s the one laughing all the way to the bank. In 2007, he delivered four monstrous hits, and the truth is that some of those films weren’t even that good. But these days, every film he touches, seems to turn into box office gold. CNN-IBN’s Entertainment Editor Rajeev Masand talked all things Bollywood with the unstoppable Akshay Kumar. Rajeev Masand: Akshay, you’ve had four back to back hits — Namastey London, Heyy Babyy, Bhul Bhulaiyya and of course Welcome. Do you have a favourite out of the four? Akshay Kumar: Do I have a favourite out of the four? Om Shanti Om! But honestly, I really enjoyed Namastey London because it is very much my kind of a film. Bhul Bhulaiyya was also very exciting because it was a different kind of a role. I had never attempted to do something like that.Rajeev Masand: Blockbuster after blockbuster. What’s the secret success formula?

Akshay Kumar: If you want, I can write down my secret formula so that people remember it all their lives. Okay, first you write Om. That’s what I always do. Then comes dedication, which is followed by talent. Subtract arrogance. Divide it by luck. That is equal to hit machine. But, tell you what, prayers work much better than this formula or maths.

Rajeev Masand: Out of the films that you did last year, most of them didn’t even get great reviews, yet they were blockbusters. Is there a part of you that still wants to win over critics, or is it not important because the films are working anyway?

Akshay Kumar: Honestly, tell me something. Shouldn’t I go for something which people enjoy? I don’t care what critics have to say about it. One or two times, you have also written something bad about me, but I don’t care about that. I really like my people and want my audience to be entertained. I want to make them laugh. They come and spend 150 rupees on a ticket. What do they want? Koi ro ke nahi jaana chahta yaar. (Nobody wants to leave the movie hall feeling sad.) Everybody wants to laugh.
