Shilpa Shetty is to ‘Miss Bollywood’ what Angelina Jolie is to Lara Croft, says her publicist. Shilpa Shetty has denied reports that she has been booted out from the second run of her successful West End musical ‘Miss Bollywood’. A report in the ‘Mumbai Mirror’ falsely alleged that her show’s promoter Farhath Hussain (who also organizes Bollywood shows all over UK) was trying to rope in one of the actresses amongst Bipasha Basu, Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta to get into Shilpa’s shoes for the second innings after differences on price factor. When contacted, Shilpa she refused to comment on Farhath but said, “The musical has been a wonderful experience. I’ve been there, seen it and done it. I would love to do it again, but when I have the time and dates.”Her publicist Dale Bhagwagar termed the talk about another actress stepping into Shilpa’s shoes, as mere speculation. “Shilpa Shetty is to ‘Miss Bollywood’ what Angelina Jolie is to Lara Croft. Moreover, the license holders of the musical are Harris International in Dubai so there is no question of anyone else booting her out,” he said. “There are no immediate plans for a second run only because Shilpa is going to be super busy with a whole lot of announced and unannounced films, endorsements and other assignments chalked out till mid 2009,” he added. M.S.Ajmal of Harris International confirmed, “After our run in Germany, UK and Holland, offers are constantly pouring in from Australia and the United States too for putting up shows of the musical. Ever since ‘Big Brother’ and Richard Gere happened to her, Shilpa is in great demand in all these countries and is looked upon as the face of contemporary Bollywood. But we haven’t yet zeroed in on plans for a second innings yet.” So what about reports which suggest, Shilpa escalated her price after ‘Miss Bollywood’ became a roaring success, putting Farhath Hussain in a quandary. Coming to her defense, her PR specialist Bhagwagar added, “Shilpa is an extremely professional person and not the kind to trouble anyone. She’s a rich girl and doesn’t run after money. She’s been lucky to always get what she deserves.” “In the last few months, while we witnessed a metamorphosis in Brand Shilpa from actress to diva, she has been offered astronomical unheard of amounts for certain film projects in Bollywood too. But she is choosing only those which will give her complete creative satisfaction,” he summed up.

Upen Patel, the handsome hunk who thrilled the audience with his gyrating moves in the movie ‘36 China Town’ might be facing a stick with the director of his next release, ‘One Two Three’, Ashwini Dheer, but the actor has lots of nice things to share about his co-stars.. “Suneil sir, Tushar and Pareshji are undoubtedly great guys. They have been around for years, but have absolutely no air around them. With no hang-ups whatsoever, they made me feel quite comfortable on the sets”, states Upen Patel, as he clearly indicates that things are not that good when it comes to his chemistry with the director. Talking about his guest appearance in ‘One Two Three’, Upen states, “I and Tanisha play two youngsters madly in love with each other. I played the part mainly because Kumarji (Mangat) wanted me to do it. See, I don’t work with newcomer directors, as can be seen from my track record where I have worked with the likes of Abbas Mustan, Suneel Darshan and Vipul Shah. Still, Kumarji is a very sweet guy and there was no reason I could have said no to him.”Well, the actor now realizes that he took on a big risk by accepting a guest appearance role.”I guess I would continue to have my doubts around special appearances. I started getting apprehensive the moment the first poster of the film was out. There wasn’t clarity around whether I would be in the front row or the back row. There are so many actors in the film. Kabhi aage kabhi peeche, I was thinking ki chalo rehne hi do. In any case, I have a small role to play in the film”, says Upen giving a hint that it might be a ‘No’ for guest roles from now on. Happy for his solo number in the movie,’Rocky Mahi’, the actor says, “It’s a fabulous song by Raghav Sachar. The beats are groovy and it was fun dancing to its beats. Tanisha looks quite glamorous and together we had a blast doing the number. It is nice to see appreciation coming in, as the song has been set on a grand scale and has a great club-feel to it”. A macho-man look with a bare-body is what the viewers can expect in this song, from Upen. “Well, I am not sure how much of it has been retained in the song, in the edited version. I had worked hard on my body and I am shirtless in a part of the song. I am eagerly waiting to see the edited version to know how much of it is still there”, quips the visibly tense actor. As the film is set to release on March 28th, all eyes await Upen Patel along with the huge star cast - the three Laxminarayans, Suneil Shetty, Tushar Kapoor and Paresh Rawal with the gorgeous girls, Esha Deol, Sameera Reddy, Neetu Chandra along with Mukesh Tiwari, Manoj Pahwa, Vrajesh Hirjee, Murli Sharma and Sanjay Mishra.

In Bollywood, where actresses can’t look eye to eye, Preeti Jhangiani and Kim Sharma have sure set a great example of ‘Mohabbatein’. They are known to be one of the closest friends in Bollywood and now, when Preeti is set to tie the knot with actor Pravin Dabas on March 23, her best friend Kim can’t contain her excitement. Kim has already finalized the dresses she is going to wear at Preeti’s sangeet, wedding and reception. She has reportedly got designer AD Singh to design a beige-and-gold saree that she would at Preeti’s wedding. At the Sangeet ceremony, Kim will wear a gold, orange, and yellow ghaghra-choli. For the Reception, Kim plans to don a lehenga choli. Despite a twisted ankle, Kim is busy rehearsing for a song performance as she is gearing up for a special act for Preeti. But more than that, Kim will be throwing a special pre-wedding party for Preeti and Pravin on March 19. The party will be held at a nightclub called ‘Play’ in Phoenix Mills and will be for the young friends and relatives of both bride and groom. Following in the footsteps of Ajay Devgan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan etc. Akshay Kumar has gone ahead and launched his own banner, Hari Om Productions. As may be recalled, just a while back Akshay, when asked about getting into production himself, had said that he cannot bear the hassles. But the top actor now says that “I think it’s finally time that I took the leap, so I’ve decided to throw myself in the deep end. Even as an actor, I’ve always been open to working with new directors. In fact, some of my biggest hits have been with new directors. So, I think it’s only fair that we give deserving talent a fair chance. It’s my way of giving back something to the industry. After all, I can never forget my days of struggle.”Well, since he has now decided to take the plunge, after 18-years in the industry, we wish him the best.
While Kareena Kapoor is looking stunning these days, she seems to be taking the ‘living on love and fresh air’ bit a tad too seriously. According to a source, the actress who sports a bikini in Tashan, her next big film, was so intent on looking ab-solutely perfect in the two-piece swimsuit that she didn’t eat for some days before the sequence was shot in Greece. But the gruelling shooting schedule and an orange juice-only diet look its toll and the actress collapsed on the sets sparking health concern, says the unit member who was on location but who does not wish to be identified. Kareena who is at present holidaying in London with boyfriend Saif was not available for comment but our source says the actress brushed aside the minor health scare and resumed shooting within hours. Recently even Shah Rukh Khan found himself dehydrated while shooting for the ‘Dard-e-disco’ song in Om Shanti Om because he did not want even an ounce of extra weight to mar his six-pack ab. Kareena who has whittled down to less than 48 kgs and Scarlett ‘O Haraesque proportions with a 23-inch waist, has raised concern about anorexia, but the actress insists that she is healthy and has credited Yoga and balanced eating to her weight-loss. Meanwhile Saif Ali Khan may be prodding her to eat better and put on some weight, but one guy who is happy with her new figure is Tashan producer Aditya Chopra who texted her complimenting her on her stunning look in the film and especially the bikini sequence. ‘You look like a goddess,’ Chopra is said to have messaged Kareena while she was in Greece.
