Bollywood actor Katrina Kaif, who gave a string of hits last year but couldn’t manage to earn a single nomination in the best actress category in any of the major awards, says she is unfazed as long as her fans are happy with her work.
How unfair can life be? I wasn’t even nominated for the best actress category,’ quipped Katrina and added: ‘however, in the STAR Gold’s Idea Sabsey Favourite Kaun 2008 awards, my fans voted me their Sabsey Favourite Heroine.’
‘If my audience and fans appreciate my work and are with me, what else I can ask for?’ said the actress, who was in the capital on Friday to launch Mayar Group’s a+ MediSpa, a medical spa.
She forayed in filmdom with ‘Boom’ and after about a dozen flops, the ice maiden struck gold with four blockbusters - ‘Namastey London’, ‘Apne’, ‘Partner’ and ‘Welcome’.
Currently busy shooting for ‘Race’, ‘Main Yuvraj’ and Siddharth Anand’s yet-to-be titled film, how does the busy bee unwind herself?
‘Take off the costume and make-up as soon as the shoot is over! And get a spa treatment. It is extremely relaxing. Unfortunately, the kind of lifestyle and schedule we have, we hardly get time,’ says the actress.
‘Not only actors, but I have seen a lot of directors and journalists with skin problems and believe me, all that can be cured by a spa treatment,’ she claimed.
The actress also said very few people know the difference between being fit and healthy.
‘It is not only important to be fit and look good; one must feel good from inside and that can happen only if you are healthy.
For instance, our cooks put a lot of oil in our food, which increases the cholesterol level and is bad for health. How many of us are aware of it and take care,’ the actress says.
‘Hence, in an industry where we use a lot of make-up and a fast moving world it is extremely important to take care of the skin and health. Do pamper yourself,’ stressed Katrina.
Commenting on her Valentines Day plans she said: ‘I would be in Las Vegas on V-Day. I am going there to attend an Indian cultural festival.’

Priyanka and the actor together after 2005’s Waqt. Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt are set to work together for the film. Reports suggest the film will have Lara Dutta as the other leading lady. Sources reveal the film will be an action-oriented romantic drama.

There’s a buzz that Akshay Kumar has been asking producers to rope in Priyanka as a leading lady opposite him. The source adds, “Akshay wanted someone who’s athletic and can do action scenes well for Blue and Priyanka has proved that she can do that. If everything works out well, the pairing will be Sanju-Lara and Akshay-Priyanka.”

The last time Akshay and Priyanka worked opposite each other was in Vipul Shah’s Waqt (2005). After the release of Waqt, there were reports that Akshay’s wife Twinkle had forbidden him from signing any films with Priyanka and that explains the two year gap for this hit jodi. Several producers including Sajid Nadiadwala who were keen to cast them together but it didn’t work out.
However, things seem to have changed now since Akshay is the one who’s showing interest in their pairing. When contacted Parag Desai, media consultant Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision says, “We are not aware about any such thing at the moment.”
Here is one another big news from the Yash Raj Banners except for one that Shah Rukh Khan is busy in shooting for Rab ne Bana Di Jodi for Directory Aditya Chopra. YRK banner have finally signed Katrina and John Abraham for the first time to work with them, yet in an untitled movie to be directed by Kabir Khan. This is Kabir Khan’s second movie with John Abhraham as he started his career with YRF films in Kabul Express in 2006 directing John Abraham and Arshad Warsi. Whereas it is John’s third movie with YRF following Dhoom in 2004. Shooting for the movie is scheduled for July for shoot and would be released in 2009. For Katrina this is her second assignment with the YRF banner as she is already enrolled with them for a movie directed by Siddharth Anand casting Ranbir Kapoor.
Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan is to produce the country’s most expensive ever movie in a bid to show the world the strength of the subcontinent’s special effects and animation industries. Khan is in Berlin with “Om Shanti Om,” which his own shingle Red Chillies produced for Indian financing and distribution giant Eros Entertainment. The untitled pic is to be made by Red Chillies on a budget of $25 million and will be helmed by Anubhav Sinha (”Cash”) later this year. “We are dedicating the next eight or nine months to taking the best technicians from around the world and asking them to help us make the best VFX film India has ever made,” Khan told Variety. “It will madcap, over the top. I want it to be as beautiful as ‘Spider-Man’ in terms of effects.” Story, boasting the feel of a videogame, will feature kids who wish for bad things, but get a reality check when they come true. Production and financing have yet to be completed, but Khan said that he is in advanced discussions with Eros and with Charles Darby (”The Matrix,” “Minority Report”), the visual effects guru who recently co-ventured with Eros to launch Mumbai-based effects Eyeqube Studios. Red Chillies is one of the leading players in the still-emerging Indian effects sector. Khan, who is regularly cited as the world’s most recognized movie actor, says that unlike other Indian stars he has not been courted by Hollywood. “I’m waiting for someone like Steven Spielberg or James Cameron or some other great person like Ang Lee to make a film a film about a brown, thin, scrawny Indian guy who doesn’t speak English too well. If they ever have a character like that and Google it, I’m sure they’ll find me,” he said with tongue firmly in cheek. “Seriously, it would have to be character-specific. I’d love to do an action-comic film like Chris Rock and Jackie Chan. “As a producer I’d like to make the Indian film that genuinely crosses borders, where you forget that it has a language, like ‘Life Is Beautiful.’ I didn’t realize at first that it was an Italian film. Or ‘The Lives of Others.’ I think I can do it in my lifetime, maybe in the next five years. “The magic will be not to try to make a crossover film. ‘Om Shanti Om’ is full of cliches of Indian cinema, but it is full of heart. I think we need to make more like this and gradually more and more people will come to like that,” Khan said. “Om Shanti Om” was released in November in the main Indian diaspora territories and became the highest grossing Indian film of all time, with a $19 million opening weekend. It gets a commercial German release on March 6.
Dharma Productions is looking to the future and a change is on the cards. After producing five films in the past decade, including the blockbusters KUCH KUCH HOTA HAIN, KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM, KAL HO NAA HO and KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA, Karan Johar will be stepping out of his comfort zone and charting new territory. Contemporary stories relevant to our times and targeted at entertaining the evolved cinegoer, debutante directors, CG animation, introduction of new talent [both on and off camera], Dharma Productions is thinking big and have plans to release three films a year from 2009. Karan Johar will direct his fourth film [yet untitled], to go on floors from October ‘08. It will star Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. The screenplay is by Shibani Bathija [KANK]. DOSTANA, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, will star Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra and Bobby Deol in a special role. The film is slated for release by the end of ‘08. KOOTCHIE KOOTCHIE HOTA HAIN celebrates a decade of Karan Johar’s directorial debut KUCH KUCH HOTA HAIN. This animation film will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani and co-produced with Prana Studios, a Los Angeles and Mumbai-based renowned 3D animation studio. KOOTCHIE KOOTCHIE will incorporate the latest innovations in computer graphics and promises to recreate the magic of the original film with the voice of the original cast - Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerjee. The fourth film, yet untitled, will be directed by Rensil D’Silva and star Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and one more lead actor. This film will go on floors in October ‘08 too.
