From old hats like Shabana Azmi, Hema Malini and Mahesh Bhatt to young actors like Sonam Kapoor, Celina Jaitley and Abhishek Bachchan - on Mother’s Day they all talk about the contribution of their mothers in their lives and give them credit for their success. Here is what the actors have to say on the special occasion:
Sonam Kapoor: My mother is my best friend. What she has taught me is to value the people who love me. I never take anyone for granted. When I was working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and struggling to live up to his penchant for perfectionism, she would step in to guide me. During that crucial time my mother taught me to be patient and strong and to follow my heart. My mother is an exceptional householder. She doesn’t have just three children, but four, my father being the fourth. He has to talk to her like 20 times a day. If I can run my household after marriage with half my mom’s efficiency I’d consider myself a successful woman.
Raima Sen: The biggest thing I’ve learnt from my mother is patience and to respect other people’s space. Also, to be strong-willed! She has also taught my sister and I not to make the mistakes she made in her career. She has brought up both of us as independent women capable of taking our own decisions.
Shabana Azmi: Where do I begin? My mom has taught me compassion, generosity of spirit, and not to make an issue out of everything in life. I’ve inherited my taste in clothes from her. Above all, she has taught me acting and how to approach a role.
Abhishek Bachchan: My mom has taught me to try and be a good human being.
Urmila Matondkar: Mom has taught me not to be judgemental and to love and accept people as they are. From her, I’ve learnt that if you’re patient the best is bound to happen for you.
Shilpa Shetty: What have I learnt from mom? Everything! Most of all I’ve learnt the importance of dignity in my conduct. She also taught me never to let anyone trample on my self-respect.

Ad filmmaker-turned-director Robbie Grewal’s brother Gary needs to realize that his tantrum throwing will not work. As you may be aware that Bollywood hottie Celina Jaitley who had initially agreed to work in Gary’s directorial debut has quit it for the latter’s allegedly unprofessional behavior. This is significant for both Robbie and Gary as both don’t have enough work with them. Though Celina herself doesn’t have much in her kitty , yet she even hates the mention of Gary and hotly denies ever being a part of his debut.
Cheerleaders being wrapped cricketer being slapped, Is cricket turning into a Tamasha? Bollywood reacts…
Celina Jaitley: “No I don’t think cricket has become a tamasha. I think everything that’s happening at the IPL is being turned into a tamasha. Sreesanth being slapped is very unfortunate. I feel that the spirit of sportsmanship which makes every sport noble is now going out of cricket. Sad.
Hema Malini: “Yes, cricket has become a big tamasha. The dignity of the game is completely lost. Cricket by itself is so engrossing. Why does it suddenly need women to cheer on the players and the public?
There’s absolutely no need for such distractions. The Indian public had no clue about such entertainment (cheerleaders) before this. And now there’s slapping during the game! I am shocked.
Urmila Matondkar: “I don’t think cricket is turning into tamasha at all. It’s just that cricket has turned more glamorous exciting and bigger. As for the cheerleaders I don’t think they serve any purpose at all. We don’t need to copy the West blindly.”
Naseeruddin Shah: “It’s been heading towards that direction for a while. But hasn’t everything becoming a tamasha? Look at the daily news.”
Mahesh Bhatt: “The triumph of entertainment and the death of cricket. In the desperate effort to entertain our entire existence has become grotesque.
Sonu Sood: “No I don’t think so. People in this country have a tendency to overeact. Cheerleaders add glamour to the sport. So why not treat it that way?
With Celina Jaitley having considerable differences bordering on spats with filmmakers and production houses over the last few days, her close friends and well-wishers are getting worried about the actress’s aggressive behaviour.Recently, she claimed that she was forced to walk out of debutante Gary Grewal’s untitled film after she was ill-treated by the filmmaker. The enthusiastic actress even went on to give elaborate interviews about this. However, Gary insists that he had not signed her for the film. Obviously, she is under some misconception again.A source close to the director says, “We had never ever signed her for the role so there is no question of her doing rehearsals or attending a workshop. She was one of the few actresses that we had zeroed in on and approached for the role. The role is that of a very glamorous girl, with plenty of scope for histrionics too. However, later we felt that she did not suit the character and that’s why we opted for Neetu Chandra. We don’t know why she is saying that she attended workshops and she was treated badly. I think she is hurt by the fact that Neetu was selected for the role.”Earlier too, Celina Jaitly had hit the headlines when she was alleged harassed and stalked by a professional from a noted production house. Pooja Bedi, who was also approached by the same production house for a show, went on record to comment on Celina’s strange charges.Celina has a history of stories written on her where she claims that she has been harassed. For example a couple of years ago too, Celina had alleged that she was molested by a drunken man while shooting for Babloo Pachasiya’s Jawani Diwani in Mauritius.
