John Abraham bares it all in ‘New York’

Cheer up girls! Now is the stripping season for Bollywood hunks. For long, Bollywood actresses have used their weapon of skin baring to make their way to success. Now, it is Bollywood males who are entering into the dare-bare territory.

John Abraham had stripped down to the barest minimum on the beach in “Dostana”. Now, reports say that he has bared it all for a torture scene in his next film “New York”.

The scene in question is for a prison for director Kabir Khan’s flick which narrates the tale of friendship and terrorism.

Earlier, Kunal Kapoor in “Rang De Basanti” and Ranbir Kapoor in “Saawariya” did bare-back scenes that were deleted when the films opened. But John’s nude scene is set to remain in “New York”, which is slated for a January release.

Said a source close to the project: “It’s a prison sequence in the US where John, who is suspected to be a terrorist, is denuded of all dignity. This is how they break your spirit in an American prison when they want you to confess to being a terrorist.

“They make you eat, sleep, urinate and defecate in the same room. Then they begin to strip your dignity down… until you are left in the cold, dingy cell completely naked. John had to enact this sequence.”

Aamir’s body scares me: John Abraham

John Abraham might have been adjudged as the sexiest man alive by a survey, but the actor is all gaga about Aamir Khan’s physique in ‘Ghajini’.

In a recent interview, John Abraham said, “I may be fit but when I look at Aamir Khan and the way he has developed his body just for a role, it scares me. We actors should take a leaf out of his book and how he has changed cinema in this country.”

Well John, now that’s called healthy competition.

From being happy and gay, John Abraham turns sensitive

“I am proud of AASHAYEIN and wish that the world sees it soon”, beams John Abraham as he moves on from his recent success DOSTANA and looks forward to his next release that is helmed by Nagesh Kukunoor. While in DOSTANA, John did well in role of a happy–go–lucky man who ‘pretended’ to be a gay, AASHAYEIN sees him portraying a sensitive character.”I play the role of a compulsive gambler who wins quite a fortune from a bet but soon realizes that he won’t be able to enjoy the riches since he has only 90 days to live”, reveals John about the part that he plays as a central protagonist in AASHAYEIN.What happens during the last days of his life forms the crux of the film as he is checks himself in a hospital where he meets a variety of inmates who change his outlook on life. How he rises above his own needs and lives life to the fullest while learning from the courage of those around him is his journey that goes by the name of AASHAYEIN.John admits that AASHAYEIN touched his heart in a big way. “When Nagesh narrated the script to me, I knew there and then that I had to be a part of it. I would have wept so many times while going through the script of AASHAYEIN. It is a very sensitive film and I believe everyone should watch it at least once to learn a new meaning of living life.”

Also seeing Shryeas Talpade in a guest appearance, AASHAYEIN stars Sonal Sehgal and Anaitha Nair as the leading ladies. Salim–Sulaiman gave music in this film which is a co–production of Percept Picture Company and T–Series. The film is aiming for a release this January.

I love Abhishek to death: John Abraham

After Dhoom, John Abraham teams up with Abhishek Bachchan once again in Dostana and says they have developed such an incredible rapport that he simply dotes on his co-star. Abhishek is not a co-star or a colleague. He’s a friend. I dote on him. I love him to death. We never compete. We complement each other in ‘Dostana’. We share a great chemistry. Abhishek and I are a couple in the film. John and Abhishek, who get along like a house on fire on the sets of Dostana, regret that they had to shoot the Maa da ladla music video for the movie separately. The film is being produced by Karan Johar and is being directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Mansukhani said it was a conscious decision to have Abhishek and John shoot the song separately. They shot individually so the masti of the rest of the movie was missing on the sets. But I deliberately didn’t shoot the song with John and Abhishek together. I wanted at least this one song to look different from the rest of the film where they’re constantly together, fooling around and chumming it up. This is a music video which we’ll use for promotion and probably for the end titles, Mansukhani said.

It’s Abbas Tyrewala’s second film after ‘Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’

John Abraham will not only be acting in filmmaker Abbas Tyrewala’s second venture “1-800-Love” after the hit “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na”, he will also be co-producing it.

“1-800-Love” is a quirky, witty and savagely funny look at the man-woman relationship and writer-director Abbas roped in John for the project, after having worked with chocolate boy Imran Khan in his debut film. The filmmaker, who’s still polishing up the movie’s script, says John decided to jump in as a producer the minute he heard the narration.

“After hearing the narration, John not only loved the script, he wanted to come on as a partner. So, effectively, the project will have three producers - Madhu K., John and myself,” Abbas told IANS.Incidentally, “1-800-Love” gets its title from the toll-free phone numbers in the US.

John, who’s currently shooting in New York for Kabeer Khan’s film on terrorism entitled “New York”, is now looking out for roles that would challenge him as an actor. After Anurag Kashyap’s “No Smoking” and Nagesh Kukunoor’s to-be-released “Aashayein,” Abbas seems to be the director John needed to get his creative juices flowing.

Abbas’ movie is set to be shot in Boston in April in a start-to-finish schedule and the filmmaker has now headed for the hills to write the final draft of the script, a source close to him said.
