Scriptwriters in Bollywood aren’t writing anything in depth for a woman,” lovely Lara scoffed, “Invariably the
scripts glorify the hero while the heroine is the love interest. And the women-oriented films are half-baked attempts at feminist statements. Both to me are uninspiring.”
She’s going to produce this to-be-written movie as well, but the actress draws the line at direction. “I’m not ready to direct yet. And I can’t wait to start my film. I’ve done two drafts. And I think it needs one more draft, then I’m ready,” she said.
But on her crusade for reversing the male-dominance of movies, Lara is hedging her bets and not making the movie totally female-centric. “It has equal space for the male and female protagonists. It’s not one of those feminist, in-your-face women’s films. The male lead will have a lot to contribute to my film.”
Abu Dhabi and Bollywood seem to have built a stronger connection recently as many movies are being shot in the picturesque locales there. But a bond that has got stronger is of the beauty Lara Dutta, who had not only shot for Partner but is also currently shooting for her upcoming David Dhawan film Do Knot Disturb. She quips, “This place is like a lucky mascot as my last film was shot here and it turned out to be a superhit. We have been shooting at this hotel and you just got to see it to believe how wonderful it is. It’s a wonderful place, the people are very warm and it’s quite a film-friendly place as well.I guess with the amount of films being shot here, Abu Dhabi has become the new Switzerland.” Now, how about making her the brand ambassador of Abu Dhabi?
Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta have been bonding big time since they acted together in Priyadarshan’s Bhaagam Bhag. Our source revealed, “Though Akshay and Lara have known each other since the Andaaz days and have done films together earlier too, of late, a great friendship has developed between the two. Lara particularly enjoyed Akshay’s sense of humour.” Buzz in the industry has it, that Akshay is now strongly promoting Lara. Besides Blue, Akshay even got Lara to dub for an animation film called Jumbo. Our source added, “Lara has dubbed and not charged a single penny for it. Lara feels that Akshay has been helpful to her.”When contacted Lara diplomatically said, “Yes it is true that I have dubbed for Jumbo. Akshay asked me to see the film and then decide if I wanted to do it. I saw it and thought that it was a very sweet film. So, I dubbed for it. Jumbo is my gift to my junior audience. It is my first animation film and so I did not want to charge for it.”
Shailendra Singh, the MD of the production house involved, said, “Lara has a sweet voice and so we roped her in to dub for Jumbo.”
The multi-star comedy directed by David Dhawan apart from his favorite comedy king have casted other stars like Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen. Watch out pictures for the song ‘’Sohni Lagdi Teri Gal Sohniye’. Lara Dutt in looks of 60’s looks great in this song sequence.

The shooting of Priyadarshan’s ‘Billoo Barber’ was quite full of untoward incidents for sure- first, there was a poisonous snake in Lara Dutta’s room and then it was heavy downpour which disrupted the shooting.
While the shoot was going on at Pollachi in Coimbatore district, a poisonous snake entered Lara’s room at night but Lara did not panic to everyone’s surprise.
Recalls actor Irrfan Khan,
“To her credit, Lara handled the situation very sensibly and bravely, probably because she didn’t know how poisonous the snake was. If it had bitten her it would’ve been disastrous.”
