Bollywood Actress Priyanka comes out clean

Please stop thinking of us as rivals at each other’s throats: Priyanka ChopraPriyanka Chopra has always been in news for her differences with the female co-stars. Her cat-fight with Kareena Kapoor is too well known. She also seems to share cold vibes with Lara Dutta with whom she worked in the early phase of her career. Now, media is abuzz with the tales of her differences with Kangana Ranaut with whom she stars in Madhur Bhandarkar’s forthcoming ‘Fashion’. However, Priyanka denies any such difference with Kangana and said in an interview to a news agency, “Please stop thinking of us as rivals at each other’s throats. I worked with Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta in my two earliest films. We worked without any kind of tension. Now I hear I’m at loggerheads with Kangana while shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Fashion’. That I’m feeling threatened by her presence, when in fact we get along famously.”“Kangana and I share a lot in common. Like me she’s an outsider who has been wholeheartedly embraced and adopted by Mumbai. Besides we’ve our individual space in ‘Fashion’. So this reported friction is again fiction,” Priyanka added.

Abhishek and I had some fun times during Bluff Master

Abhishek and I had some fun times during Bluff Master2007 was a year of tremendous turmoil for Priyanka. There were legal and police hassles regarding financial endeavours. At home her dad struggled with a serious illness.Sighs Priyanka, “In 2007 I’ve just been busy doing commercials. And then there were other problems created by various people. I’ve accepted those as an enevitable part of each year. The more popular you get the more the number of people who want target you. That’s fine. It’s a professional hazard. You’ve got to take it in your stride. I’m glad I’ve my family to stand by me. They’re my strength and my weakness.”Sighs the discreet diva, “The end of 2007 seemed to be the beginning of the year for me because I started Fashion. I’ll soon be starting Karan Johar production with Abhishek and John. Both the films will be over by July. So the first-half of 2008 is packed.”She’s looking forward to working with Abhishek and John again.“Abhishek and I had some fun times during Bluff Master and with John I did one of my toughest roles in Karam. I enjoyed that though it didn’t work at the box office. But then a film doing well or not is in nobody’s hands,” says the actor who in five years has given the maximum number of hits and has earned the tag of the new-millennium Hema Malini. She hopes to fashion a new success in Fashion. “It’s actually becoming a much bigger film than what it was meant to be. Let’s face it, success is important. And to me the boxoffice is very important.”Fashion is a special challenge. “The character requires a lot of hard work. The graph is so steep. Madhur Bhandarkar is keeping me on my toes constantly.Yes, I admit Krissh and Don didn’t have as much space for me as Fashion. But one does all kinds of movies. I enjoy the experience of trying something new each time.In Fashion I’m far more at the forefront than Krissh or Don. But the challenge is the same.”

Priyanka Chopra and that F-word!

priyankamasala_big.jpgPriyanka is caught up in the F-word these days. No, don’t get us wrong. It’s Madhur Bhandarkar’s latest film Fashion which is keeping her busy all the time.As she says herself, “I have been so busy these days that I have found no time to introspect. Fashion is the only movie right now that I am going to be taking a lot of stress over.”2007 has been a cold year for this former Miss World but Priyanka is eagerly looking forward to 2008 in which she will feature in as many as half dozen films.“This year I had a sort of sabbatical year and this year just two releases. But 2008 will be my busiest calendar as I would be acting in six films. I have acted in about 20 films in my four-year-old cinema career so far and 2008 will be the busiest,” says Priyanka. Her new releases coming out in the next one year include: God Tussi Great Ho with Salman Khan and Amitabh Bachchan , Love Story 2050 with Harman Baweja , Drona with Abhishek Bachchan , Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion , another film called Chamki Chameli and a yet-to-be-named film with John Abraham as co-star.Priyanka also tells that there were some calls from the Hollywood to act in English films, but she first preferred to ‘master’ acting in Indian films. But coming back to on-screen fashion travails, it is her off-screen fashion issues that are in the news.At a recent polo event in the city, Priyanka apparently refused to wear a Rohit Bal gown that was provided by the organisers. Priyanka, however, dismisses it as a mix of mere speculation and a lot of gossip. “Not at all! I have absolutely no issue there. In fact, I love Rohit’s work. That day when I came for the event, I had a choice of outfits from various designers. A lot of them did not fit me because I had not done trials in Mumbai before coming for the event. And so, whatever fit me, I wore it for the event. I couldn’t have managed the fitting here in Delhi because we were running late. We were really tight on time,” she says.

“I Shall Watch Jaaneman First Day,” says Priyanka Chopra

“I Shall Watch Jaaneman First Day,” says Priyanka Chopra
Wednesday, October 18, 2006
“It was very difficult to make Roma smile….I wanted her to be a tough chick,” says the sassy-n-stylish Priyanka Chopra as she gears up to earn accolades in a dream role as Shahrukh ‘Don’ Khan’s Damsel in Farhan Akhtar’s Big-Ticket opener this Diwali. Priyanka Chopra has been having a great run in Bollywood. Some say that she is the heir apparent to the Queen’s throne while still others rave about her dedication towards her work. Having had a super successful ‘Krrish’ and a super flop in ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ in her kitty this year, the Chopra babe is excited about the changing trends every Friday in the world of make believe. Check out her smart answers in this IndiaGlitz exclusive interview.

Don is the biggest Diwali attraction this year…

I am very excited about ‘Don’. ‘Don’ for me is a very exciting film for me. I hope people like it. A lot of hard work has gone in the making of the film. I hope people enjoy it.

Farhan says that you did a lot homework like learning to ride a bike and learn martial arts…

It’s a character I’ve never played before. And I really wanted it to be convincing. She plays a fighter so she should she look like a fighter. I’ve trained. I went to the gym…I wanted my body to look very fit. I wanted to ride a motorcycle. I wanted her to be a tough chick because that will make the character different from what I’ve played so far. Especially when ‘Krrish’ has just released recently where I played a simple girl next door so I wanted this to be very different. I hope it has come across that.

Your look seems to be similar to Charlie’s Angels…Your thoughts on that…

I don’t think so…I think we’ve just made what a fighter will look like. I wanted her to be very tough. It was very difficult to make Roma smile and that’s what my aim was.

Great cars, cool trains…Don has a fantastic look…Antithesis of Bollywood films…

It’s a very slick film….It’s a very cool looking beautiful film. And I am very very proud of being a part of it.

First time working with Shahrukh Khan….Would you like to share the experience….

It was fantastic. I’ve always been a huge Shahrukh fan. And for me working with him was an absolute dream. He is somebody I’ve always looked forward to being around working with. And I am really glad that I did do ‘Don’ with him.

Did you watch the earlier ‘Don’ to incorporate a few nuances of Zeenat Aman’s Roma….

I didn’t watch the film after I was supposed to do ‘Don’ because I didn’t want my character to be anything like Zeenat ji’s character. If I compared my character with her’s then I would have always fallen short. I decided I would want to do it my way.

Music of the film is rocking…especially ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ where you are featured.

I really like ‘Aaj Ki Raat’. It’s a fantastic song. I also like ‘Khaike’ a lot. That’s my favourite song. Even the ‘Don’ track is a really cool song. I really like the theme track of ‘Don’ as well. It’s very haunting and just stays in your mind.

Jaaneman releasing the same day…A lot of hype surrounding that film too…

Both the films on their own are very strong films and I am very close to the Jaaneman team. And I wish them a lot of luck. I shall go and watch ‘Jaaneman’ first day. I am really looking forward to that film as well.

‘Don’ is having a massive release overseas

It’s the kind of film, for people overseas…It will be like ‘Wow Hindi films can be made like this’. It’s a very slick film. And I hope people feel that we’ve lived upto their expectations.
