Minus RanDeep - tagged as Bollywood’s current ‘it’ couple with their public lip-lock grabbing eye-balls recently, the rest of tinsel town is singing strains of separation. It’s the season of spats for most of Bollywood.
Right from the much publicised love stories of Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif, Harman Baweja-Priyanka Chopra and Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor to the hush-hush liaisons of Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra and Soha Ali Khan-Siddharth - most couples seem to be treading the path to splitsville.
From Saif’s much hyped tattoo, Katrina’s visit to Ajmer Sharif to pray for beau Salman, Kareena playing mommy to Saif’s kids, Abraham and Sara to Salman and Harman throwing surprise parties to woo their ladies…the tinselville dikkat seems to be pyaar kiya to darna kya!
But, there’s a flip side to the mushy business too.
With the motto of spreading the message of communal harmony and celebrating the spirit of Mumbai, UTV Motion Pictures and Citizen’s Council for a Better Tomorrow announced the launch of their MUMBAI MERI JAAN signature campaign in Mumbai. Launched by F.T. Khorakiwala and Ronnie Screwvala along with Nishikant Kamath and actress Soha Ali Khan at a press conference, ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ pays tribute to those people of Mumbai who have fought, struggled and reheld the strings of their life after being targeted by terrorists on various occasions.
F.T. Khorakiwala, Ronnie Screwvala, Nishikant and Soha signed the first banner of the campaign, which will be the world’s largest signature hoarding. Also present on the occasion were Kiran Shantaram, Hemant Karkare (Jt. Commissioner Anti-Terrorist Squad), Julio Ribeiro (Ex DIG Maharashtra Police) and M.N. Singh (Ex Commissioner of Police, Mumbai).
Playing the Ms butter-wouldn’t-melt-in-her mouth kind of roles on 70 mm might get them box-office returns, but the devout, Indian look doesn’t make them hit news headlines or become postergirls.
So, Mumbai tinseltown’s beauties sometimes go in for an image makeover to make heads turn. The bharatiya nari image doesn’t always work. Kareena Kapoor started off a fashion trend when she dropped a few kilos to get into a bikini for Tashan.

Even petite Amrita Rao seems to have finally gotten tired after playing girl next-door and tries to get herself a glam makeover, while even Priyanka Chopra gets into the beach babe mood in Dostana.
What makes Bollywood divas get glam and shed clothes and their conservative screen image almost overnight? “What’s wrong about showing off a bit skin? Actresses have been wearing skimpy clothes for years, we are more casual about it now,” says actress Sangeeta Ghosh. “I did ‘bold scenes’ because the script demanded that,” points out Sangeeta. “I believe that if you are comfortable then there is nothing wrong in it. I always do things that I believe are right for me,” chips in Shweta, who has done some ‘hot, hot’ bikini scenes in her debut film.
Soha Ali Khan has discovered a new passion it seems. She is hell bent on taking the crown of the ‘Cover Queen’ from Bollywood’s new found diva Kareena Kapoor. Barely had we come out of the shock with Soha shedding her inhibitions (and clothes) for Maxim, that we have yet another cover story from Soha in the fashion magazine ‘Elle’. The gal has finally learnt the ways of Bollywood. After a disastrous ‘Khoya Khoya Chand’, Soha Ali Khan has decided to shed her inhibitions and clothes for ‘Maxim’. So, all we can see is that things are getting hotter this season.
Our words need no proof once you see Soha down to bare minimum on the cover page of fashion magazine, Maxim, in its May issue and gotta say Pals, she is sure to set ardeline rushing in you!
